Are monkeys our ancestors

Are we descended from monkeys or the evulotionary biology has another theory about this ?

Am confused really.

If we have evolved from monkeys, how possibly we both co-exist at the present time.

Another question :

If we are cousins but have common ancestors, why they have not evolved while we have.

Can anyone explain this please.
