BLACK SEA – The oil tanker VIRAT, sailing in the Black Sea, a waterway crucial for global trade, reported late this evening that it has been attacked by an unknown Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV/Drone) approximately 40 miles (about 74 km) off the Turkish coastline.
The tanker’s crew immediately issued a Mayday distress call following the strike. They are currently assessing the vessel’s condition, with initial reports indicating no casualties or injuries among the crew. This incident, occurring near Turkey’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), significantly heightens existing concerns about maritime security in the region.
No casualty has been reported so far.
